Consumers pay £0
Using AR-ADR is free for consumers. There is no application fee, no case fee, and no charge for receiving a decision.
Traders fund the service
The service is funded by traders. There are two routes:
- Subscription. Participating clinics and traders pay an annual subscription. Subscribers are listed and the outcome is binding on them if accepted by the consumer.
- Per-case fee. Non-subscribed traders who agree to use AR-ADR for a particular dispute pay a per-case fee.
Fees never affect outcomes
How a trader pays — by subscription or per case — does not influence the outcome. Adjudicators do not know whether a trader is a subscriber when they decide a case.
- Adjudicator pay is a fixed fee per case, not contingent on outcome.
- Trader fees are paid into the scheme, not to the adjudicator deciding the case.
- Internal audit checks for any pattern of bias linked to funding status.
Costs you may incur yourself
You will not pay AR-ADR anything. You may choose to spend money on:
- Postage or printing for evidence (you can also send by email).
- Independent advice or representation, if you decide to use one (you do not have to).
- Translation of your own documents, where AR-ADR cannot reasonably provide it.
Trader fees — published
Current trader subscription and per-case fees will be published on the transparency page once the service is operating.
